Capacity & Flexibility

With over 20,000,000 lbs. of billet and bar conversion annually, Press Forge is the largest conversion forge shop in the country. We can take your ingot to bingot, billet, re-roll slab or bar as round, octagon, round-cornered square (RCS), square, or rectangle. We also offer step forgings that may include both multiple sizes and/or shapes within a single bar or billet. Specific product sizes and capabilities will depend on the alloy, as well as the desired properties, shapes, and microstructure required.

Forging & Material Conversion Equipment

Our four open die hydraulic presses provide the capability for processing billet from as small as 75 lbs. in weight to sizes down to 1 inch thick or 3 inches in diameter or as large as 30,000 lbs. to 30 feet long. With a maximum upsetting daylight of 118 inches for ingots/billets up to 25,000 lbs., we can process slab and/or bar to approximately 54 inches wide and round bar to over 38 inches in diameter.

Quality Products Forged to Specification

While our primary focus is forging your material to the size and shape you desire, our multiple billet grinders and hand grinding capacity can also provide intermediate and/or final grinding of product. Our two spiral grinding stations can grind round billet/bar from 6 to 26 inches in diameter at lengths from 5 to 30 feet. Automated slab and billet turners can handle up to 52 inches wide by 20 feet long slabs and RCS to 42 inches by 30 feet.

Our capacity for hand polishing of re-roll slab has increased product yields for our customers taking this material to plate and sheet. The surface condition produced by our grinding department allows some customers to eliminate more expensive machining operations. In addition to grinding, we offer red-dye penetrant inspection for removing detrimental cracks and laps that develop during the forging process.
